Nirekha Peak Climbing (6,159m)

Nirekha Peak ClimbingNirekha is situated in the Khumbu region close to the well-known Cho La crossing between Gokyo and Lobuche. This peak lies just west of Lobuche.

It’s a perfect route for experience alpine climbers. The ascent is mostly on ice and snow but demands accurate fitness and acclimatization as most of the tough climbing is above 5,800m.

Though the peak can be got via the valley above Thangnag on the route to the Cho La pass, it is easier and safer to start at Kanchang base camp (5,250m) near the Gaunara Glacier. The top is reachable in 9 hours from there in good conditions.

Both tracks converge on the Cho La col (5,690m) and continue along the West-Ridge that consists of snow and loose rock getting continually steeper towards the top. There are two distinct summits of equal height and the south summit is easier to reach.
